This is a “quick hit” post regarding standardized tests. Brown University just announced they are bringing back standardized testing, following similar announcements from Dartmouth and Yale. More colleges may follow.
This means that many Class of 2025 students who thought they would apply test-optional now realize they need to sign up for an SAT or ACT. But there are only a limited number of times that students can take the tests, particularly if they are applying early. This new demand for testing can easily outstrip the supply of test spots. Therefore, you should sign up now if you haven’t already done so.
Here is the test schedule for the ACT and SAT in 2024. For early applications, you should take a test no later than October. For regular decision, you can take a test up through December.
